With the client operating a traditional on-premises datacentre and as part of a broader digital transformation, the organisation faced a complex and time-consuming challenge in migrating their servers and applications to Azure.
The goal was to enhance the organisational digital infrastructure, providing a more scalable and flexible environment, improving visibility and security of their core infrastructure, and ensuring better business continuity and disaster recovery – bringing its internal operations on par with its global reputation.
Though the value of an Azure migration was clear, it was also important that any changes in functionality should not impact the organisation’s day-to-day engagements and operations. This required clear and careful planning to ensure a flawless transition and successful adoption.
To effectively address the real-world needs of the 300 users who would benefit from the new Azure environment, our team at Advania conducted a series of discovery workshops aimed at generating comprehensive reports on user applications and security requirements. This critical initiative—designing and implementing an Azure Virtual Desktop solution tailored to the specific needs of its users—was integral to Advania’s strategic vision.
Equipped with this valuable insight, Advania proceeded to design and implement a robust Azure solution that enhanced security, scalability, and service delivery, beginning with the deployment of an Azure Landing Zone in the UK South and UK West regions.
Subsequent to the deployment, we conducted a thorough and expedited assessment of Client X’s server infrastructure. Following the completion of our report on the existing datacentre, we migrated the client’s server estate from their on-premises datacentre to Azure, which included Windows Server and SQL Server environments.
After completing the migration, we ensured an optimal transition that prioritized user experience by facilitating the shift of the identity provider from Okta Single Sign-On (SSO) to Microsoft Entra ID. This transition guaranteed seamless integration with Client X’s existing systems
The outcome was a secure, modern remote working capability that effectively met the needs of the Client.
The outcomes of Client X’s Azure migration were substantial. Users now enjoy enhanced infrastructure scalability and flexibility, increased system resiliency and reliability, and a modernised platform that directly integrates with familiar, existing Microsoft technologies.
Answering the client’s need to adopt a more proactive and modern security posture, the new Azure solutions also provide a secure-by-design approach, significantly improving business continuity and disaster recovery.
This successful migration has positioned Advania’s client with a robust, secure and scalable digital infrastructure, ready to meet future demands and enhance their operational efficiency – ultimately providing a bright future for the British tourism industry and those who love holidaying and adventuring in their home nations.
